Lynn Shirk has been an artist for as long as she can remember. As a teenager she landed her first job on the boardwalk in Ocean City, New Jersey doing charcoal and pastel portraits of people and animals. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in art and Spanish from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, Lynn spent the next 36 years teaching Spanish (and occasionally art) in the public school system of Pennsylvania. During her career, she continued to explore the world of art in her spare time. She is excited to have more time to dedicate to art now that she has retired from teaching.

Lynn has always been fascinated by the patterns and colors that exist in nature. The spiral of a nautilus shell and the iridescence of butterfly wings are two sources of inspiration that can be observed in her current work. Working with glass, wire and other materials, the artist creates unique jewelry and other fine craft items.
